With pleasure I welcome you to the San Diego School of  Creative and Performing Arts, an arts magnet public school for students in grades 6 through 12. Since 1978, SCPA has offered a rigorous college-preparatory academic and arts curriculum that has prepared our graduating seniors to continue their studies at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, UCLA-Irvine, Boston University, UCSD, Juilliard and many other prestigious colleges and universities throughout the United States. SCPA counts five Tony Award winners among its alumni as well as countless graduates who are working in the arts and entertainment industry.
Our campus is a vibrant professional learning community of aspiring artists and young scholars who we are preparing to become citizens of the world. Our teachers and staff are dedicated and boast years in academia and in the arts as well as extensive international educational travel experiences and awards. Our partnerships with The Old Globe Theater, the California Center for the Arts, and the San Diego Opera enrich the learning experiences of our students.
Being a part of SCPA comes with responsibility. Our students, faculty, parents, partners and volunteers know that team work is a prerequisite to success in artistic and life endeavors – each of us must do our best at all times for the group to excel. We focus on goals, commitment, intellectual curiosity, respect for others and their ideas, and on making smart choices in our learning and how we live. All dedicated students who work hard at SCPA will be successful beyond graduation regardless of what post-secondary studies they pursue. A solid education that balances the arts with academics creates life long learners, instills personal discipline, and engages the imagination.
