PHYSICAL EDUCATION/DANCE (5506) 
Grade 6

Sixth grade students participate in a physical education or dance program (when available) that emphasizes the development of good physical fitness habits and skills. See “Electives.”

PHYSICAL EDUCATION/DANCE (5506.2)
Grade 7
All students are required to take a year of physical education/dance.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION/DANCE/MARTIAL ARTS (5506.2)
Grade 8
All students are required to take a year of physical education/dance/or martial arts. Space in martial arts and specific dance classes are limited.

For graduation four (4) semester credits are required in the ninth and tenth grades.  This can be done through regular PE classes, dace, or martial arts.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (5711)
Grades 9-12
The high school physical education program will emphasize physical fitness performance, goal setting and testing, running for cardiovascular fitness, and small group and class instruction and play. Traditional and non-traditional team and individual sports will be emphasized. Students will set goals and develop a physical fitness plan for the future. Students will make a complete change from school clothes to a physical education uniform. Students will provide a plain sweatshirt, T-shirt with school logo, burgundy-colored sweats or shorts and a combination lock. T-shirts and shorts are available for purchase at school.

MARTIAL ARTS 1-2 BEGINNING (5711.2A)
Grades 9-12
An introductory course designed for the student with little or no martial arts experience. The course combines the martial art styles of Taekwon-do, Hapki- do, Aikkido and Jiu-Jitsu. In addition strong emphasis is placed on practical self-defense techniques, improved flexibility and muscular/cardiovascular conditioning.

MARTIAL ARTS 3-4  INTERMEDIATE
(5711.2B), 5-6 ADVANCED (5711.2C)
Grades 9-12
Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in Martial Arts 1-2.
Continuation of beginning class with emphasis on advanced Taekwon-do Hyongs (katas), advanced self-defense techniques and improved physical conditioning.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONING AND WEIGHT LIFTING (5711W)
Grades 9-12
Prerequisites: Grade B or better in a regular PE class, Martial Arts or Dance class and teacher approval.
Students will be involved in all aspects of physical conditioning. This will include cardiovascular as well as strength and muscle development through weight lifting. The class is open to all students in grades 9-12.

INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS (OFF-CAMPUS SPORT ACTIVITIES)  (5712)
Grades 9-12
Students who attend SCPA may choose to participate in interscholastic sports at their school of residence (home school). Transportation is NOT provided by the school district. Students must be approved by the department head to enroll in this class.
