Joseph Rauch comes from a unique cultural blend; his mother is a Lebanese immigrant who was born in Baghdad and his father is a Jewish man from New York. The environment created by his parents has given many opportunities and planted the seeds that would help him develop his music abilities. When Joseph was 7 years old, his parents forced to him to take piano lessons. For the first few years of his piano playing, Joseph did not care much until his family moved to Lebanon and he met Janmoree Muhana. “She convinced me I could learn the ‘Minute Waltz’ by Chopin and ever since I learned that song, I have been passionate about the piano.” Since Joseph has returned from Lebanon, he has learned more advanced classical music and competed in county and state competitions. In 2007, he was placed 3rd out of nearly 100 participants in a county-wide competition and receive high scores in the Certificate of Merit Performance Test held by the Music Teachers Association of California. He has also is a leader in the school jazz band and jazz combo. He has performed and recorded classical and jazz music with “The Vince Greco Jazz Ensemble.” |
