Dear SCPA Family & Friends,
The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts is a remarkable magnet school for young aspiring artists in grade six through twelve. Our faculty and staff are committed to creating a nurturing environment for 1,500 students with a passion in the arts and commitment to academic excellence. Since 1987, our alumni have continued their studies at universities and conservatories across the nation, including UCLA, Juilliard, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory, the Arts Center of Pasadena, Boston Conservatory, the University of the Arts at Philadelphia, and New York University Tisch School or the Arts. SCPA counts Tony Award winners amongst its alumni, along with countless other remarkable graduates who are working professionally in the artistic arena. Tony Award winners Sara Ramirez (currently starring on Grey's Anatomy) and Christian Hoff (starring on Broadway in Jersey Boys) are just two of our notable graduates.
As our list of achievements and success stories grow, sadly, our budget continues to decline. Despite countless studies showing the benefits of art education, the dollars to support it are slim. This is where we need YOUR help. No amount of exhaustive work and dedication will offset the reality that to provide an exceptional arts education, we need financial resources. We must rely on the community to fill in the significant gap between our public funding and unmet needs. Your tax-deductible gift, payable to Friends of SCPA, will defray the costs of our upcoming productions. Funds are also needed to help provide quality materials for our arts departments, including much needed clay and photography equipment for the Visual Arts and instruments for the Music classes. We'd also like to develop a Summer Arts series - the possibilities for your gift to enhance our students' artistic development are endless!
When you support Friends of SCPA, your contribution directly supports the arts and the passionate and creative students who are working to achieve their dreams. The arts empower many youth to stay out of trouble, finish school, and turn a dream into a reality. Your tax-deductible donation has tremendous impact on the day-to-day life of our children. Every gift matters. Every gift is critical. $20 funds a Stanley hammer for the Technical theatre class and $1,000 would put new ballet bars in our dance studios. $5 buys a sheet of music for Choral and $500 sends a group of students to see an artistic event in our community. With your generous support, SCPA students will continue to go on to become college graduates, accomplished artists and contributing citizens and leaders.
