SENIOR YEAR CALENDAR


August
  • If needed, register for college standardized tests.
  • Begin to think about essay subjects now, while you’re not overwhelmed
  • Develop a detailed application plan, noting deadlines for applications and scholarships. Dates vary by school
  • Collect applications for private colleges. UC and CalState applications are available in October.
September
  • Join CSF if eligible
  • Colleges send reps to visit SCPA; sign up to attend meetings in counseling office
  • Begin application process; follow your plan! Adjust as necessary
  • Direct standardized test scores to colleges if you haven’t already done so
  • If applying Early Decision, ask teachers for recommendations and submit counselor recommendation requests
October
  • Ask teachers for recommendations, research scholarships
  • Complete senior exhibition project selection form.
  • Retake standardized tests if desired
  • Talk to the registrar about transcripts and reports, if necessary
  • Obtain UC/CSU applications from counseling office — the CSU application period is October 1 to November 30.
  • Visit counseling office for CSS Profile form and ROTC applications
  • Obtain FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) PIN information from counselor
November
  • November 1 is deadline for many Early Action/Decision applications
  • November 30 is application deadline for UC/CSU schools
December
  • CAL grant applications available in Counseling office
  • ROTC applications due
  • Visit Counseling office for FAFSA form
  • Attend Financial Aid workshop at SCPA
January
  • Many regular application deadlines for private schools occur this month, on the 1st or 15th.
  • Check SCPA counseling office for scholarship information
  • Fill out and file FAFSA and CSS Profile, research local scholarships
  • Schedule your senior exhibition, a graduation requirement
February
  • Keep checking counseling office for available scholarships
  • See Registrar to turn in mid year report form if you have not already done so, if required
  • Write thank you letters to all who wrote you letters of recommendation
March
  • CAL Grant deadline date is early this month
  • Check a transcript to ensure your child’s social security number is correct     
  • March 15 is the deadline for the Computer Literacy test, if needed, for graduation.
April
  • Hear from colleges
  • Senior Exhibitions
May
  • Notify school of choice
  • Take Advanced Placement exams
  • Order final transcripts from registrar
June
