CLUBS AND PUBLICATIONS

School clubs at SCPA have developed as an outgrowth of the interests and hobbies of the students and must be ASB approved. Meeting times and locations are determined by the staff advisor and club president and communicated in the school bulletin. Also, a list of club advisors and meeting locations is posted in the Finance Office.

All sanctioned clubs and school organizations may post notices/flyers on the kiosk in the quad after they have been approved by the ASB Advisor. All clubs must have copies of their constitution and rosters on file in the ASB Office & the Finance Office to be official school clubs. Clubs must process all finances through the Finance Office. Clubs must submit fundraising requests and receive approval from ASB prior to conducting fundraisers. The annual Club Fair where you can meet club members and learn about each club will be held in September.

If you would like to add a description of your club to the website, please email Ms. Cash

ACADEMIC LEAGUE, Mrs. Roberts/Mr. Swain

The academic league plays an academic season just like an athletic season. The games resemble athletic events and include home and away games, four quarters, time-outs, high scorers, and strategy. Four separate quarters in each game emphasize different skills such as problem solving, teamwork, and quick recall. All levels of students can compete. Participating students are honored for their scholarly endeavors with trophies, medals, and recognition as well as peer and community attention. By each season's end, each league has determined a champion school that participates in the National Tournament conducted through video conferencing.

ASB, Mr. Thomason

The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts' Associated Student Body government class is responsible for allocating all student run events on and off campus as well as the formation and policies of all student clubs on campus. The ASB students are in charge of all school-wide student events and fundraisers. There are specific protocols in designing a SCPA student club as well as conducting fundraising. The ASB class meets each week on Thursdays to conduct official business i.e. the approval of the club organizations, the bills to conduct events and fundraising, the request for ASB support be it financial or with personnel. The ASB class code of ethics states multiple components but one is the "unswaying effort and obligation to improve campus life. This commitment will be for all of those whom I was elected or appointed to represent, regardless of race, religion, national origin, or other personal affiliation or obligation."
